Mel has been playing live for 40 years in the grerater Los Angeles area.... He started off busking on the Redondo pier and did long stints including Najas, the Happy Clam, Rubens on the Rocks, the Blue Moon, The Lighthouse Cafe, Club 705 ,Texas Looseys , Hermosa Street fairs

And Mel was a regular performer at Ronnie Mack's Palomino Barn Dance nights, which is where he met and became good friends with Jimmy"Muffin" Yessian, and many more great and wonderful musicians.

Movie credits, including songs recorded by Teresa James, Rita Coolidge, Laura Tate, among others...

And, he's played for many years with Teresa James as a duo also in Bands such as:

"The Rhinestone Homeboys - with David Jackson and John David,
"the California Cowboy Band " -- CD " Riding Catalina Again"

Mel's solo CD, "Symptoms Of A Much Deeper Problem" is available online

And songs on CDs released by:

Teresa James and Rhythm Tramps , "Country by Request "
and Laura Tate, " I Must Be Dreaming , a tribute to the music of Mel Harker"

Being asked to record one of Muffin's tunes, Any Less, for this wonderful tribute compilation to benefit pancreatic cancer research, put together by Jeff Kossack, was a great honor...
